Could IoT solutions give your organisation a bright future?

Estimated Reading Time:

1 Minutes, 36 Seconds

What is the Internet of Things and how could it offer resilience to your business during the pandemic? Find out in our latest blog…
The Internet of Things (IoT) isn’t the next big scary thing that people should be worried about; it’s a system that could change the world for the better. Research conducted by Business Insider predicts that by the year 2027, there will be 41 billion IoT devices connected to the internet. This number will triple by 2030. Fortune Business Insights also predicts the IoT market will be worth $1.1 trillion by 2026; a huge increase on its $190 billion worth in 2018. It’s safe to say that IoT is here to stay and grow.
It’s interesting how the global pandemic is changing the business world. A lot of companies have suffered because of their inability to change and adapt. If we’d known earlier what was coming, perhaps many businesses could have improved their flexibility and resilience to better survive. But there was and still may be a general lack of preparedness leading to businesses failing during this uncertain time. So how can businesses look to a bright future as we navigate the pandemic and look to develop?

Introducing the Internet of Things

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system that provides the ability to transfer data and information over a network of connected computers, without needing the hand of a person. The different systems can communicate through the cloud, then be processed through specific software, and as a result, could have an action performed.

How could it help businesses?

IoT can offer businesses a solution not only to manage assets but also enable remote working. Companies could monitor performance remotely without requiring staff to travel to a particular location; a theory that’s incredibly important in the world of social distancing and remote work.
IoT can also enable companies to monitor and examine health in public spaces through connected devices like thermal imagining cameras and smart sensors. This can also work to automate hand sanitiser dispensers to encourage good hygiene and, furthermore, manipulate the data to promote better health and create structure.
With Microsoft Azure IoT as an example, workplaces could gain the ability to build and deploy a secure application that is scalable when using the IoT portfolio that the Azure infrastructure offers. This can let people manage the real services needed in order to operate as successfully as possible amid pandemic restrictions and concerns.
Contact us to find out more about Azure IoT, how easy it is to implement and how it can benefit organisations of any shape and size.
